Côr cymysg o Aberystwyth yw Côr ABC.

Enillodd y côr dlws Côr yr Ŵyl yng Ngŵyl Fawr Aberteifi 2018, ac fe gyrhaeddodd rownd derfynol y corau cymysg yng nghystadleuaeth Côr Cymru 2017 a 2019. Ym mis Chwefror 2020, bu’r côr yn perfformio gyda’r canwr-gyfansoddwr Al Lewis ar noson agoriadol ei daith i lansio ei albym gysyniadol newydd, Te yn y Grug.

Dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, mae’r côr wedi ehangu ei repertoire i gynnwys cerddoriaeth gan lawer o gyfansoddwyr cyfoes, yn ogystal â cherddoriaeth gan gyfansoddwyr o Gymru. Mae’r côr hefyd wedi comisiynu darnau newydd, gan ddenu cynulleidfa newydd ac ennill clod mewn cystadlaethau.

Yn ystod y pandemig, mae’r côr wedi parhau i gwrdd yn ddigidol ac mae wedi bod yn rhan o brosiect côr rhithwir yn un rhith i berfformio darn newydd o’r un enw a ysgrifennwyd gan y cyfansoddwr Andrew Cusworth yn ystod wythnosau cyntaf y cyfnod clo. Ers rhyddhau’r perfformiad cyntaf ym mis Mai 2020, mae’r prosiect wedi ennyn sylw o bob rhan o’r byd, ac fe enillodd gymeradwyaeth uchel yn y categori ‘Prosiect Cyfnod Clo – Côr’ yng Ngwobrau Cerddoriaeth Glasurol Ddigidol 2020. Gallwch wylio perfformiad rhithwir cyntaf y darn ar waelod y dudalen hon.

Yn ddiweddar, mae’r côr wedi cyrraedd carreg filltir ei ben-blwydd yn 25, ac rydym yn edrych ymlaen at ddathlu gyda chyngherddau a darn comisiwn pan fydd yr amgylchiadau’n caniatáu inni wneud hynny.

Mae’r côr yn gymuned gyfeillgar a hwyliog, ac mae bob amser yn falch o groesawu aelodau newydd.

Côr ABC is a Welsh mixed choir based in Aberystwyth.

The choir was named Choir of the Festival at Gŵyl Fawr Aberteifi, Cardigan’s annual festival of music and verse, in 2018, and reached the mixed choir final of S4C’s choral competition, Côr Cymru, in 2017 and 2019. In February 2020, the choir performed with singer-songwriter Al Lewis on the opening night of his tour to launch his new concept album, Te yn y Grug.

In recent years, the choir’s repertoire has extended from well-known Welsh classics to include music by a range of living composers, as well as new pieces commissioned by the choir, a move which has gained the choir a new audience and increasing recognition in competitions.

During the pandemic, the choir has continued to meet digitally and has taken part in the yn un rhith virtual choir project to perform a new piece written by composer Andrew Cusworth during the first few weeks of lockdown. Since the première in May 2020, the project has received attention from all over the world and was highly commended in the ‘Lockdown Project – Choir’ category of the Classical Music Digital Awards 2020. The first virtual performance of the piece can be viewed below.

The choir has recently reached the milestone of its 25th anniversary, and we look forward to celebrating with concerts and a new commission piece when circumstances allow.

The choir is very friendly and approachable, and is always pleased to welcome new members.
